Hertfordshire County Council have confirmed that they will be fully replacing all the trees removed from Potters Bar as part of recent works on the town’s roads.
The news came following representations by Oliver and local County Councillor, Peter Knell, to the Council on behalf of concerned local residents.
Oliver said: ‘I was very pleased to receive a firm assurance from the Council that all the trees removed as part of the recent highways works in parts of Potters Bar will be replaced like for like. This is essential in making sure that our precious local environment is maintained for this and future generations.’
In a letter received from officials in the Council’s Highways Department, it was confirmed that new and healthy replacement trees of the same type as those removed will be planted, maintaining the streets’ visual appearance into the future.
Oliver added: ‘As I have said before, I understand that the Council have a duty to fell dead or potentially unsafe trees and I am very pleased that they have committed to replacing them all.
‘I will continue to work with Cllr Knell and others to make sure that these are delivered and that we raise the concerns of those residents who are affected.’
