Oliver Dowden, MP for Hertsmere, celebrated Her Majesty the Queen’s 90th Birthday at a number of events held across the constituency, including an over 60s lunch in Potters Bar, a service of Thanksgiving with the Bishop of Bedford at Christ Church in Radlett, a lunch at the United Synagogue in Shenley and a garden party at Reveley Lodge in Bushey.
Mr Dowden said: “Just as on Coronation Day in 1952 and the Diamond Jubilee River Pageant in 2012, the day began with heavy rain. This did nothing to dampen spirits- the post service barbeque in Radlett was conducted under a gazebo and festivities in Shenley were transferred indoors. Miraculously, by the time things kicked off in Bushey, we were even able to glimpse a gentle ray of sunshine.
“By the end of the day, the Borough had truly said Happy Birthday to Her Majesty. I would like to thank the organisers of all events across the constituency for arranging such enjoyable occasions. It was wonderful for the whole community to have the opportunity to come together and celebrate. The day’s events demonstrated the very best of our community spirit.”
