Yesterday, Oliver visited the local Potters Bar air cadets, 57 (Potters Bar) Squadron Air Training Corps, at their base on Mutton Lane.
The visit saw Oliver tour the cadets’ facilities, see their work and finished with a question and answer session.
Speaking today after the visit, Oliver said: ‘It was great to meet with the cadets from Potters Bar’s Air Training Corps yesterday.
‘It was wonderful to see them in action and I was impressed by their training and how interested, welcoming and engaged they all were.
‘Being a cadet is a great thing to be able to do and during my visit I discovered how they’re learning to do everything from flying to rifle shooting and making friends along the way.
‘I wish them the best of success and encourage others who interested to get involved as well.’
The Air Cadets are sponsored directly by the RAF and gives young people the chance to gain real experience of the Royal Air Force. Cadets take part in a wide range of practical training and activities to develop skills for use in the RAF and the wider world. There are currently over 900 cadet squadrons across the UK, with more than 40,000 young members.
