Oliver visited The Sewing Studio by Bunmi Okon, at Aycliffe Road in Borehamwood.
Bunmi Okon’s ‘The Sewing Studio’ offers in person sewing classes, as well as online classes to children, teenagers and adults. Classes range from beginners to advanced and Bumni also hosts coffee mornings for new mothers and fathers, the elderly, and tea and knitting mornings.
Oliver joined Bumni at one of her Saturday children’s classes, where he met with the students working on their pieces for an upcoming fashion show.
Oliver said: ‘I had a great time joining Bumni at The Sewing Studio for one of her Saturday children’s sewing classes. This is a fantastic opportunity for children to learn how to sew, promoting the learning and development of a skill that many children no longer experience.
The students’ pieces were creative, and I was very impressed to see their progress from extreme beginners. Bumni also hosts group coffee mornings for the elderly, and many further opportunities for people of all ages to get into sewing. This is a real gem in the local community, and I encourage anyone interested in sewing or textiles to visit!’
