Oliver Dowden, Member of Parliament for Hertsmere, visited the annual local Apple Day event in the Walled Garden at Shenley Park with his family.
Apple Day is a nationwide event held at locations ranging from village halls to National Trust houses. The events involve eating, tasting, juicing and cooking the apples themselves, together with practical advice on pruning apple trees and picking the fruit.
The October event at Shenley Park has been running since 1992 and this year attracted around 3,000 people. They also got the chance to try their hand at apple bobbing and making their own apple juice.
Mr Dowden said: βIt was a pleasure to attend Apple Day at Shenley Park over the weekend. Like many others I thoroughly enjoyed the day out with my family. I was able to buy some delicious apples, apple juice and honey β all produced at Shenley Park including some varieties of apple found only here in Hertsmere. There was something for everybody, from apple bobbing to apple juicing and I recommend it to anyone thinking of coming next year.β
