Oliver Dowden MP for Hertsmere, has today visited businesses in Potters Bar to discover more about concerns over the decline in the footfall and variety of shops on Darkes Lane and the High Street.
Mr Dowden said: “It was good to meet local business owners in Potters Bar again. We have some great success stories in Potters Bar, particularly thriving cafes and restaurants. I am concerned though that we may be continuing to lose variety when wonderful independent shops such as Rock Pop Candy are moving away from Potters Bar.
Business rates and lower footfalls are a big concern. I hope that the ongoing review of business rates will offer relief to some local businesses. I am determined to do all I can to assist our local business owners and independent retailers, who are the backbone of our economy and deserve our full support.”
