Sir Oliver recently met with the East of England Ambulance Service (EEAS) to discuss their performance and winter preparedness plans.
Senior staff spoke to Sir Oliver about internal reforms they have implemented, which have resulted in faster response times, improved handling of emergency calls, and enhanced collaboration with other community services,
Sir Oliver was also briefed on the EEAS’ preparation for winter, where the usual seasonal increase in demand for ambulance services is expected. Concerns were raised about the potential impact of Labour’s decision to cut the Winter Fuel Allowance, which is likely to create health issues for older people who cannot afford to heat their homes.
Sir Oliver said: “It was great to meet with the East of England Ambulance Service recently and receive an update on their vital work.
I am grateful for all they do and for their constant efforts to improve ambulance services and health outcomes in our community.
I will support the Service however I can moving forward.”
