Recently, Oliver visited Step2Skills, an Adult Community Education Service, in Borehamwood.
Step2Skills is the Adult Community Learning and Employment Service provided by Hertfordshire County Council. They provide tailored upskilling opportunities and employment support to residents who face barriers in learning and employment. Upskilling opportunities offered include English, maths, employability skills, digital skills, health and wellbeing.
They run directly and through partner organisations, with funding from a variety of government-funded community projects.
Oliver said: ‘It was a delight to join local residents in a Step2Skills class and speak to those at Step2Skills about the great work they are doing for our community.
‘Step2Skills is a great way to help people learn as well as prepare them for employment and volunteering opportunities. I thoroughly enjoyed my time taking part in a ‘multiply’ class, which includes activities to help people become more confident with numbers.’
Oliver added: ‘I also had the opportunity to speak to some of the local employers and organisations Step2Skills work with, such as Sky Studios and Communities 1st, to discuss the different experiences they provide.’
