Oliver has paid tribute to the work of the Borough’s local Mencap society following a visit to their AGM at Allum Hall, Borehamwood, on Friday.
Speaking after his visit, Oliver said: ‘I was pleased to visit the Hertsmere Mencap society on Friday and meet with many of its local members and volunteers.
‘It was good to discuss the issues they’re facing as an organisation. I see from so many of my meetings around Hertsmere the excellent work that such voluntary organisations do helping so many people.
‘I’ve supported Mencap in the past and will continue to do so. They do so much to support people in our community who need our help most. They are always in desperate need of volunteers, particularly younger people, and I’d urge anyone with the time to offer their help.’
Mencap is a national charity which aims to support people with learning disabilities, as well as their families and carers. For more information about their work and the support they provide, please follow this link to their website: https://www.mencap.org.uk/
