Sir Oliver Dowden MP has raised concerns in the House of Commons about the International Criminal Court’s (ICC) ruling on Israel and the government’s enforcement of it.
Sir Oliver raised the matter in an Urgent Question in the House of Commons on the ICC arrest warrants relating to the Israel/Gaza conflict.
Sir Oliver said: ‘Whatever reservations one may have about the conduct of the conflict in Gaza, there are two fundamental principles: 1. Netanyahu is a democratically elected leader of a sovereign state and 2. That that state is conducting a legitimate war of self-defence.
‘Now the minister acknowledges those facts but does he not appreciate how this ruling is seen as an affront to those principles by many of my constituents?’
