Oliver last week met with the Chief Constable of Hertfordshire, Charlie Hall QPM, to discuss the borough’s local crime issues and raise with him the concerns of local residents.
Speaking afterwards Mr Dowden said: ‘It was good to meet with Chief Constable Hall and I used the opportunity to discuss my constituents’ concerns, particularly over burglaries in towns such as Bushey.
‘These crimes are incredibly distressing for everyone affected. He reassured me how seriously Hertfordshire Constabulary take the problem and explained the work they are doing to bring the perpetrators to justice.
‘Additionally, he also briefed me in more detail on what his officers are doing to combat the terrible problem of the drugs trade.’
Oliver met the Chief Constable at Hertfordshire Constabulary’s Headquarters in Welwyn Garden City and he added: ‘I’m grateful to the Chief Constable for providing such a thorough briefing.
‘Our police work tirelessly to keep us all safe and I remain in regular contact with our local station here in Hertsmere.’
