Sir Oliver Dowden MP recently met with Radlett shop owners, alongside Cllr Lucy Selby regarding the impact of car parking charges on the High Street.
Radlett Opticians raised concerns about their customers having to now pay for parking at Newberries Car Park, following a decision taken by Labour-Liberal Democrat run Hertsmere Borough Council earlier this year.
Oliver also visited the Brass Monkey to offer his assistance following a flood at the café and Fress Bagelry and Deli to talk about orders ahead of Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur.
Oliver said: ‘It was good to be out along the High Street in Radlett recently with Cllr Lucy Selby talking to shopkeepers and seeing some friendly faces.
‘At Radlett Opticians I discussed the impact car park charges in the area, including the decision taken by the Labour-Liberal Democrat run Council to impose parking charges at Newberries Car Park. As I have said before, we should be encouraging residents to visit the High Street, not deter them. Lucy and I will continue to press the Council on this matter.
‘I also offered my assistance to the Brass Monkey following a flood at the café and talked to Fress Bagelry and Deli about orders around Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur.’
