Oliver Dowden, MP for Hertsmere has now received a response to his letter to TFL regarding the sudden spike in the level of traffic on the A1 approaching Stirling Corner.
Mr Dowden said: "Many will know that there are a number of reasons why Stirling Corner has been so problematic for motorists over the past few years and it requires a complex solution. However, the short term spike in traffic has been caused by a fault with one of the detectors that makes the optimisation of traffic signals possible. A TFL led inspection of Stirling Corner took place two weeks ago but the detector has still not been replaced.
I visited Stirling Corner last Friday with the Chair of the Elstree and Borehamwood Transport Forum and have written a second letter to TFL, pushing for the faulty detector to be replaced as a matter of urgency. Please also follow the link below for the response to the written question I tabled to the Transport Secretary: http://www.parliament.uk/…/written…/Commons/2015-06-15/2472/."
