Oliver Dowden, MP for Hertsmere, returned to his old school of Parmiter’s in Watford as guest of honour for the annual Senior Speech Night ceremony last week.
The evening was a prize-giving ceremony where the activities and achievements of senior students were celebrated. The event was packed with students receiving awards, their families, their teachers and members of the wider school community.
Mr Dowden said:
‘It was fantastic to be back at my old school Parmiter’s for Senior Speech Night last week.
‘I remember being at those Speech Nights when I was a pupil. It was great to see many of my old teachers and be able to share some of my experiences since leaving with the current students.
‘I will never forget the debt of gratitude that I owe to Parmiter’s. It was a real privilege to speak to everyone and I wish them the best of success in the future.’
The night also featured a number of excellent musical performances by students.
Others joining Mr Dowden in addressing the event were Parmiter’s Headmaster, Mr Nick Daymond, and the Head Girl, Esme Stevens. Prizes were awarded to students for an enormous range of outstanding successes across the school’s curriculum.
