Oliver last week visited Villa Scalabrini Care Home to meet with the staff, trustees, and residents, and tour this Italian Roman Catholic care home in Shenley.
Oliver said: ‘Great to visit Villa Scalabrini last week, where I met with the staff and trustees who spoke to me about the Villa Scalabrini charity. I had an interesting time chatting to residents, many of whom grew up locally!’
Established in 1986, and initially to provide care for the Italian community, Villa Scalabrini welcomes individuals from all cultures, religions, and nationalities. It has almost 25 acres of grounds and includes a dementia friendly area.
Oliver said: ‘I very much enjoyed having a tour of the grounds, seeing the dementia friendly garden and remembrance garden. It is important that we treat people with care and dignity in old age and Villa Scalabrini aims to create an environment that feels like home, whilst giving back to the local community.’
