Oliver met with the Chief Inspector of Borehamwood police station to discuss the latest police operations.
Oliver took the opportunity to discuss a number of issues raised with him by constituents, including street lighting and anti-social behaviour.
In the meeting Chief Inspector Stephen O’Keeffe explained that the number of crimes committed in Hertsmere is down and public confidence in the police force is rising.
Oliver said: ‘I was pleased to hear the Chief Inspector’s assessment that overall crime rates in Hertsmere are low and falling. This is thanks to the excellent work of our local police force. The Chief Inspector briefed me on the work they are doing locally to bring crime down further.
‘It was also a good opportunity for me to discuss local issues that constituents have raised with me over the past few months.
‘Meetings like this are a great opportunity to make sure there is a strong relationship between my work as Hertsmere’s Member of Parliament and the Chief Inspector’s work on policing and crime reduction.
‘In addition it helps inform my work in the House of Commons and my conversations with ministerial colleagues.
‘We agreed this would be the first of regular meetings.’
