While Brexit continues to dominate the national headlines, it’s crucial to remember that there are so many other issues and challenges facing our country. That’s why, alongside my role in Parliament and my ministerial duties in the Cabinet Office, I continue to focus locally on my work as Bushey’s MP.
One major event will be the next stage of Hertsmere’s Local Plan, the document that will shape development in our area over the next few decades. Many people have written to me to share their views about the potential sites for development, in particular Bushey County Club.
For this reason, I recently met with the Council’s Planning Department to raise these concerns with them directly and remind them of their commitments to maintain this wonderful green open space at the heart of the village. I have written here previously on this subject, so if you would like more detail on my position on the Local Plan, please do send me an email.
More widely, if new homes are built, they must not alter the character of the area and they must be matched by the right infrastructure, such as schools, health facilities and transport links. For this reason, I continue to lobby local agencies and my colleagues in the Government to make sure Hertsmere and Bushey gets its fair share.
I also of course still hold my constituency surgeries as normal, rotating the venue periodically between all the different towns and villages I represent, including Bushey. If you would like an appointment to discuss any of these issues, or other concerns you may have, do not hesitate to get in touch.
