One of the things I have seen since my election as your MP is how many local people are committed to defending our area.
Over the last year and a half I have had the pleasure of meeting and working with local groups such as the Borehamwood & Elstree Residents Association, the Radlett Civic Society, STRIFE, the Friends of Bushey Museum, the Little Heath Action Group and the Potters Bar Society, to name a few.
Whenever I meet them, I am always impressed by members’ dedication and willingness to give up their free time to work to protect the characteristics of Hertsmere that we all value and treasure. Their individual efforts benefit our whole community and help protect and enhance our shared quality of life.
I have worked with them on a wide range of issues, from protecting our precious green belt to plans for the future of Aldenham Country Park and reservoir. And of course, one of the biggest issues remains resisting the terrible blight of the Radlett Rail Freight Terminal.
So if you want to play your part in preserving and improving your local community for generations to come, these organisations are a great place to start. They always need new members and volunteers - why not look into getting involved.
Finally as this is the last MyNews of the year may I wish all readers a very merry Christmas and happy New Year. I am sure that like me you will be looking forward to taking a break and hopefully spending time at home with family.
