A key part of my job is to be accessible to all constituents. One of the best ways to do this is by holding constituency surgery meetings where people from across Hertsmere can meet me one to one and discuss any issues affecting them. These issues can be big or small, personal or international, but whatever the topic I am always keen to use my platform as your elected representative to help in any way I can.
It’s also a two way street. Alongside the correspondence I receive and meetings I attend, these conversations are invaluable in helping me carry out my role shaping legislation in Parliament and holding the Government to account on your behalf.
Since I was elected I have tried to do things a bit differently. Instead just having surgeries at the civic offices, I have held them across the constituency - from the Radlett Centre to Reveley Lodge in Bushey.
I have also tried to make them more accessible, with open drop-in sessions in public venues such as Borehamwood Tesco and the Potters Bar Costa on Darkes Lane. This provides you with opportunity to just pop by and raise any concerns when you are out and about.
For most people the quickest and most efficient way of making contact with me remains by email – [email protected]. But if you would like to discuss anything face to face please look out for announcements of open surgeries on my Facebook page - facebook.com/oliverdowdenhertsmere - or my website - oliverdowden.com. Booked appointments are also available on request.
I look forward to hearing from you or seeing you soon.
