I was delighted to be appointed as Minister for Implementation at the Cabinet Office in the most recent ministerial reshuffle. While I was of course sorry to leave my position as Parliamentary Private Secretary to the Defence Secretary, work I have found immensely rewarding over the past six months, I was honoured to have received this promotion and have the chance to serve our country as a minister.
My new role will mean working across the Government, making sure that the promises we have made are actually delivered on for the British people. I will report to the Minister for the Cabinet Office, the Rt Hon David Lidington MP, and as you may expect I will also be working closely with Downing Street.
A number of other areas also fall within my portfolio, including managing Government IT programs, civil contingency planning in the event of a national emergency and ensuring the machinery of government itself works smoothly at all times.
My work to serve Hertsmere as its local Member of Parliament will of course carry on as before. I continue to hold constituency advice surgeries across the Borough and am keeping up my campaigns, including for better local infrastructure, more good school places and protecting our precious open spaces.
