Oliver has visited the new state of the art school building under construction at Hertswood Academy, Borehamwood.
During his visit, Oliver had a full tour of the site, accompanied by the Headmaster, Mr Peter Gillett, the chief engineer, Mr Steven Yanusauskas, and Hertswood’s Head Girl and Deputy Head Boy.
Speaking after the visit, Oliver said: ‘It was a real pleasure to visit Hertswood again and see their new home taking shape.
‘The plans for the new building look fantastic. It will provide wonderful new opportunities for the school and I’m very grateful to Mr Gillet, the construction team and the senior students for taking the time show me around.
‘I very much look forward to coming back again once it’s completed.’
The building when finished will provide a new home for Hertswood, all under one roof. It includes new smart classrooms, a sports hall, theatre and café. Construction is estimated to cost a total of £32million and is scheduled to be completed in November 2019.
