The local village red phone box of South Mimms near Potters Bar has been restored following the intervention of Oliver.
The problem was raised with Oliver by a number of his constituents while out and about during the recent election campaign. Following his re-election on 8 June, Mr Dowden contacted British Telecom, who are responsible for the maintenance of red phone boxes across the country calling for the box to be mended.
Speaking this week Oliver said: ‘I’m very pleased to have received the news that South Mimms’ phone box has been repaired and restored by BT.
‘These phone boxes are wonderful parts of our local landscape here in Hertsmere and I was sorry to see this one in such a poor condition during the campaign.
‘I’m grateful to the South Mimms residents who brought this to my attention and am glad to have been able to help see the box returned to its old self.’
Following this recent repair and cleaning work, the box will also be receiving a complete new coat of paint later in the year in time for Christmas.
