Last week Oliver visited the local Borehamwood Food Bank. During his visit, Oliver met with volunteers and supporters running this vital service and learnt more about the work they do in the community.
Oliver said: βIt was very interesting and informative to meet the trustees and volunteers at the Borehamwood Food Bank. They demonstrate tremendous professionalism and dedication in providing a vital service to people who are at crisis points in their lives.
βIt was heartening to see so many local people, including a wide range of faith groups, give their time money and goods to help people in their hour of need.β
Borehamwood Food Bank was set up in 2013 by local churches and community groups.
It is now open twice a week, and alongside its primary role providing emergency food, it also hosts family lunch events where families can enjoy a healthy meal with the opportunity to learn new recipes and cook their own lunch.
