Oliver last Friday met with the Hertfordshire Adult & Family Learning Service (HAFLS) at County Hall in Hertford.
The meeting saw Oliver discuss HAFLS’ work with the senior managers, before having the chance to meet with people actually using the service.
Speaking afterwards, Oliver said: ‘It was a really valuable experience to meet with the Adult & Family Learning Service. Their work helps some of the most vulnerable people in our county get access to education.
‘I particularly enjoyed meeting Kate, who has been helped by the Service, and her mentor, Sally. Just before our meeting she had finished a successful job interview and it was wonderful to see HAFLS’ good work in action.
‘I wish her the best of luck in her new job and I look forward to visiting their other facilities in Hertsmere in the months ahead.’
HAFLS runs a wide range of courses for adults, aimed to help improve their lives. They offer subjects such as English, Maths, Nutrition, Art and IT, but also run courses in children centres and schools where you can learn with your child.
Their courses are primarily low cost, and they also run leisure courses that are just for fun. More information on how to sign up is available from their website.
