Hertfordshire County Council debated the petition against the Radlett Rail Freight Terminal today- a petition that many of us supported.
In order for the rail freight terminal to proceed, the County Council would have to agree to sell the land which they own. I am very pleased that the County Council unanimously agreed that they didn’t support a rail freight terminal and that before any sale, they would "proactively seek alternative uses for the site."
These are very welcome developments and I’m grateful to the County Councillors for taking on the points that Anne Main MP, myself and others have been making. Namely, that the rail freight terminal does not best serve our community's needs, and they should properly consider all other options before selling the land.
