I was delighted to lead a Parliamentary delegation to Japan during the Parliamentary Recess.

The security situation in the South China Sea, with rising tensions between Japan, China and North Korea is of global significance. During our visit, we took the opportunity to meet with Defence and Foreign Affairs Ministers from the Japanese Government, as well as receiving briefings at military and defence facilities.

I hope to use my experience working in Japan to further the debate on this region of the world that is of ever growing significance.
