Oliver Dowden, Member of Parliament for Hertsmere, was delighted to the join the Radlett Society & Green Belt Association’s Annual General Meeting as their special guest speaker on Wednesday last week.
The Society is celebrating their 40th Anniversary this year and after the meeting Oliver said: ‘It was a great pleasure to be invited to speak to the Radlett Society’s AGM as their guest speaker last week and be able to discuss a number of key issues with the members.
‘We covered a wide range of subjects including important local topics such as protecting our precious green-belt, the development at Newberries Car Park and of course the terrible blight of the proposed Radlett Rail Freight Terminal, which I continue my fight against.’
The discussion also covered recent international issues, most prominently, the implications of Donald Trump’s victory in the US Presidential Election.
The Radlett Society & Green Belt Association was founded in 1976 and is made up of local residents who are committed to preserving Radlett’s village community and local heritage.
Oliver added: ‘One of the things I have seen since my election as MP for Hertsmere last year is how many local people are committed to defending our area.
‘I am always impressed by members’ dedication and willingness to give up their free time to work to protect the characteristics of Radlett that we all value and treasure. Their individual efforts benefit our whole community and help protect and enhance our shared quality of life.
‘I strongly encourage anyone looking to help in preserving and improving our local community to get involved with the Radlett Society.’
