Oliver last Thursday met with the Radlett Youth Council at Edge Grove School in Aldenham for a question time event with the Council’s young members.
He was joined on the panel by County Councillor Caroline Clapper, former Mayor of Hertsmere, Mr Stuart Nagler and Professor Steve Barnett of Watford General Hospital.
Speaking after the event, Oliver said: ‘It was a pleasure to be on the panel for Radlett Youth Council’s Question Time event.
‘It was a fascinating discussion and it was great to see young people so engaged in politics. We covered a wide range of topics – from Brexit and social care to local parking.
‘Hopefully it will have encouraged them to get involved in politics and maybe one day we will see one of them sitting in Parliament as well.
‘I would like to thank Edge Grove’s Headmaster, Mr Ben Evans, for his excellent chairmanship of the evening and the members of the Youth Council for their questions which kept the panel on their toes.’
The Youth Council is a public forum for 11-18 year olds in Radlett run by Aldenham Parish Council and is designed to give young people a voice and a say in the running of their local area.
The Council welcomes new members and to find out more, get in contact with the Parish Council using [email protected] or by phone on 01923 856433.
