Oliver last week joined police officers from Borehamwood Police Station for a ride-a-long during an evening patrol in the town.
The visit had been organised to give Oliver some first-hand experience of the work of the local police and speaking later, he said: ‘An important part of my job as your MP is to understand the issues facing all our public services.
‘I’ve visited many schools, hospitals, GPs and carers. It was great to spend some time out with the police on Friday night responding to incidents, including a blue-light incident and an arrest, but more importantly spend time talking to officers about what I can do to support them as their MP.
‘I’d like to thank everyone at Borehamwood Police Station involved in arranging this opportunity and also pay tribute to the hard work of all the station’s officers and staff.’
Borehamwood Police Station is manned by officers from Hertfordshire Constabulary which serves the whole county with a total of around 4,000 officers and staff.
