Oliver has nominated a local NHS volunteer for a national award in honour of the Service’s 70th birthday.
The nomination was for Ms Alice Rath, from Elstree, 21, to receive the Patient and Public Involvement Award 2018. Ms Rath has served for seven years as a volunteer at a number of NHS trusts, including West Herts. Most recently, she has been a member of the NHS Youth Forum and currently sits on the Great Ormond Street Hospital’s Board of Governors as a young patients’ representative.
Speaking today, Oliver said: ‘I was delighted to be able to nominate Alice for the NHS Patient and Public Involvement Award. Since the age of 14 she has been dedicated in her work to improve services and care, especially for young people.
‘She would be a worthy winner and I hope the judges consider her nomination closely.’
As part of the celebrations to mark the NHS’s 70th anniversary, NHS England and NHS Improvement have established the NHS70 Parliamentary Awards. The purpose of the awards is to thank staff for their dedication, hard work and commitment by recognising and honouring their achievements.
