Oliver has written to Transport for London to push for improvements to the facilities at Bushey station.
In a letter to Mike Brown, Commissioner of TfL, Oliver set out a number areas where he believed improvements were needed and called for action to address them.
Speaking this week, Oliver said: ‘As a commuter myself, I know how the small things can make a big difference to your journey. That’s why I wanted to press TfL to make improvements to the station, namely; installing more shelters for passengers waiting on the platforms and increasing the number of bicycle racks.
‘While the misery of waiting for a train in the rain is reason enough, putting in more shelters would also allow passengers to be spaced more evenly along the platform thereby shortening the time it takes to board the train and reducing delays.
‘Similarly, I am a great supporter of cycling wherever possible and more racks would remove some of the hassle cyclists face when they arrive at the station. Yet at the same time, making it easier to cycle will encourage people to do so, helping to protect our natural environment.’
The call came as passengers faced appalling delays following the failed roll-out of new timetables across much of the rail network and Oliver added: ‘These small improvements will only really matter though if we have an efficient and reliable train service and there has been appalling disruption recently.
‘This comes on the back of months of unreliable service and over the past weeks I have met regularly with the Transport Secretary and rail executives to press for the urgent improvements long suffering passengers deserve.’
