Govia Thameslink have announced the details of the enhanced compensation which Thameslink passengers will receive. Season ticket holders from Elstree & Borehamwood, Radlett and Potters Bar will receive a months’ worth of compensation after the disruption to Govia Thameslink services.
Compensation is still also being given out for individual journeys on the basis of either the old or the new timetable.
Speaking this morning, Oliver said: ‘I am pleased that Govia Thameslink have finally announced their plans for a proper compensation system for those affected by the disruption to Thameslink and Great Northern.
Season ticket holders will be given a month’s worth of compensation for the disruption they have faced since May. While I agree that this does not make up for the scale of disruption passengers have faced over the last month it is at least a step in the right direction.
I would like to be clear though that if this scale of disruption to Thameslink and Great Northern services continues under the new interim timetable then Govia Thameslink will be stripped of their franchise, and I know that the Transport Secretary has started to prepare for this.’
Govia Thameslink is the parent company for the Thameslink and Great Northern franchises which serve Borehamwood and Radlett, and Potters Bar respectively.
Major disruption has been affecting both lines since the introduction of the new timetable in May. The new interim timetable was introduced on Sunday 15 July.
