Last Friday Olivervisited the water treatment plant at Clay Lane, Bushey, for a visit to the enormous Affinity Water works there.
Oliver was given a full tour of the plant’s operations by its engineers, alongside Ms Pauline Walsh, the Chief Executive of Affinity Water.
Speaking after the visit, Oliver said: ‘It was fascinating to go round our local water works. The plant processes millions of litres every week to keep our area supplied and is an indispensable part of our infrastructure here in Hertsmere. It was impressive to see it in action and hear from the engineers about their work.
‘I’m grateful to Pauline and her team for taking the time to give me such a thorough tour.’
The Water Treatment Plant at Clay Lane, Bushey, is responsible to purifying water taken directly from underground aquifers for domestic use across South Hertfordshire.
Affinity Water also run an education service at the site and Oliver added: ‘I would recommend that any school which is interested to get in touch with the works to book a tour to learn more about where our water comes from.’
