Oliver has called on Hertfordshire County Council to improve Bushey’s bus services.
The call came in the ongoing consultation being run by the Council as part of their Growth & Transport Plan for South West Hertfordshire. Specifically, the plan looks at changing services between Bushey/Bushey Heath and Stanmore.
Speaking this week, Oliver said: ‘Local bus services are vital to our community.
‘Many of my constituents commute into London for work, often having to use delayed and overcrowded trains from nearby stations. Additional capacity on bus routes would help relieve this pressure, giving people the option of catching a bus to Stanmore and accessing the underground station.
‘Similarly, more services would help those who struggle to travel alone maintain their independence, while also promoting reduced usage of cars, lowering pollution in our area.
‘I have therefore urged the Council to ensure that proposals for additional Bushey to London services are included in the final plan.’
The consultation on the plan runs until 17 September 2018 and Oliver added: ‘Everyone in Bushey should make their views known to the Council and respond to this consultation. They are crucial to them in understanding people’s views and help shape the final details of the plan.’
