Oliver has welcomed the announcement that Oaklands College will receive £210,000 of investment from the Local Growth fund to construct a new training centre in Borehamwood.
The training centre will help tackle skills gaps and include a state-of-the-art construction workshop and classrooms to deliver apprenticeships and employability, English as a second language and community-learning courses.
Speaking this week, Oliver said: ‘I am delighted that Oaklands College have been awarded this Local Growth funding.
‘Once opened, these new facilities will help give young people the skills they need to succeed in their careers.
‘I very much look forward to visiting later this year.’
Sean Scully, Director at Oaklands College said: ‘Throughout every stage of our proposal and planning process we have researched local need, engaged with stakeholders and taken on board feedback to shape a new site for Oaklands College.
This is an exciting opportunity to get the College back in the heart of the Borehamwood community.’
