Oliver has welcomed the news that grants totalling over £700,000 have been awarded to arts and cultural organisations in Hertsmere, including over £85,000 for the de Havilland Aircraft Museum. This funding makes up part of Round 2 of the Government’s £1.57 billion Culture Recovery Fund, distributed by Arts Council England.
Oliver visited the de Havilland Aircraft Museum, which is just outside of Shenley, to meet the Museum's staff and to visit the Museum as it reopened following the lifting of Covid restrictions.
Following his visit, Oliver said: 'I am delighted that the de Havilland Aircraft Museum was awarded over £85,000 in Round 2 of the Government’s Culture Recovery Fund, along with three other organisations in Hertsmere.
The museum is key to our local cultural offering, showcasing de Havilland’s innovative contribution to British aviation. This funding will provide a lifeline to support the museum through the remainder of the pandemic.
I have very fond memories of visiting as a child and I thoroughly enjoyed visiting on Friday to mark its reopening.
I would encourage everyone to visit it and the other institutions we are lucky to have locally.'
