Oliver recently visited Metropolitan Bushey as they received government funding to upgrade grassroots football facilities. Welcoming the news, Oliver met with the Directors and saw the new machinery in action, even taking their new tractor for a spin.
Oliver said: ‘It was great to be at Metropolitan Bushey today. The Club is open to anyone and there are fantastic grounds and facilities for the community to use. This £25,000 funding has paid for machinery that will improve the consistency of matches across the season and provide a vastly improved surface for matches and training throughout the year.
I know how important facilities like these are for our community, so I was pleased to see directly how this government funding has supported the Club, having a drive myself on the new machinery!’
Metropolitan Bushey is a purpose build events and sports venue for hire, boasting 36 acres of sports fields and facilities including football, cricket, tennis and a bowls green. They have received funding as part of the DCMS Multi-sport grassroots facilities programme, partnered with funding from the FA and Premier League, with grants to around £60,000 awarded to Metropolitan Bushey for essential facility and pitch improvements.
