Hertsmere always comes into its own with the sun shining, showing our beautiful countryside and charming communities at their best. One of the privileges of being your MP is enjoying a wide range of local events at this time of year – many of which were unfortunately put on hold throughout the pandemic.
I wrote at the start of the year that I was looking forward to the return to these events in 2022, entirely free of Covid-related restrictions, and what better way to mark this return than the four-day Jubilee Weekend, when the whole nation will come together for a special celebration to mark Her Majesty The Queen’s remarkable achievement.
This will be an opportunity to give thanks for seven decades of selfless service and give Her Majesty a celebration to remember. We all owe a huge debt of gratitude for the way in which she has guided this country through the last 70 years with her reassuring presence on the throne.
It is always a joy to see people coming together for these occasions. I will be sharing in the celebrations, starting on Thursday with the beacon lighting at Woodcock Hill, and I look forward to enjoying a packed weekend of festivities.
I am thrilled as well to return to open the Bushey Acoustic Jubilee Festival, which is always a superb day dedicated to the performing arts. I will also be taking part in events to mark Hartsbourne Country Club’s 75th Anniversary in Bushey.
This is just the start of a summer full of fun. I hope that everybody enjoys celebrating locally and marks the Jubilee in a way that will be remembered for years to come.
