Oliver yesterday met with residents affected by the large fire on Balmoral Drive, Borehamwood.
Last Friday a huge fire affected 21 flats near the junction with Howard Drive. Oliver met with the residents to offer his continued support in their time of need.
Oliver said: ‘It was good to meet with affected residents last night to offer my ongoing support and assistance. Understandably, this awful incident has left those affected distressed and distraught.
I have been liaising with Clarion Housing, Leader of Hertsmere Borough Council, Cllr Morris Bright, council officers and the emergency services to ensure that residents are supported in this time of need.
Our Hertsmere community has come together to support affected residents, and I would like to extend my thanks to Cllr Brett Rosehill, Sebby’s Corner, Gratitude, WD6 Food Support and other generous community groups who have provided support and provisions for the residents.’
Oliver also visited the Fire Station to speak to the emergency services and thank them for their swift response and leadership at the scene of the fire.
Oliver said: ‘Our emergency services, both the police and firefighters, responded promptly in the wake of this shocking incident and I pay tribute to their hard work. As ever, we owe them a debt of gratitude for their selfless heroism, particularly during these recent weeks of extreme hot weather. They are on the front line responding to all kinds of emergencies, from fires, road traffic incidents, and local emergencies, working tirelessly to keep us safe.’
A Go Fund Me has also been set up by Cllr Brett Rosehill to support the affected residents.
