Sir Oliver Dowden MP has welcomed the government's announcement of a third runway at Heathrow Airport but warned the government that it needs to be seen through.
In a statement to the House of Commons, the Chief Secretary to the Treasury updated the House of Commons on growing the UK economy.
Sir Oliver asked: 'Can I welcome the government’s conversion to a third runway at Heathrow. The sort of connectivity that that enables, particularly with fast growing economies in Asia and the Gulf, is essential to growth. What assurance can the Chief Secretary to the Treasury give to the House that this project won’t be subsequently stymied by an absolutist approach driven by ideology towards carbon emissions, which will drive it into the ground at a later moment because we have been down this path before.'
