I am deeply honoured to have been asked to serve as the Deputy Prime Minister by the Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak and to continue having the opportunity to play an important part in the Government.
Having known the Prime Minister for many years – in fact he stood to be the Conservative candidate for Hertsmere at the same time as me – I look forward to working even more closely with the Prime Minister as we tackle the issues that matter most to the people of this country.
I also look forward to upholding my first duty, which is to serve you as your Member of Parliament. I know that many residents in Bushey and Radlett remain extremely concerned about the burden being put on our green open spaces by development pressure. Growing up locally, I understand how vital it is to protect this, and it remains one of my top priorities.
I will also continue my campaigns in improving public transport, supporting the diverse local community and our vibrant local economy, and helping to secure investment for our local schools and medical facilities. I also look forward to visiting our brilliant local schools, colleges, GPs, synagogues and our fantastic local businesses.
As we approach the warmer months, there is plenty to look forward to and I am excited to catch-up with many of you out and about in Hertsmere again. As ever, I will continue to work hard for the residents of Hertsmere and will be first and foremost guided by the interests of our local community.
